Oct. 2--In its first move after officially becoming a public company, PTT Plc is due to sign an agreement tomorrow with Toyota Motor (Thailand) on a one-year project to develop biodiesel fuel.
Two types of fuel, using coconut oil and palm oil, would be developed under the 20-million-baht project, said Sawang Boonyasawat, the assistant governor and chief of research and technology for the former Petroleum Authority of Thailand.
The project will research the properties of biodiesel, a mixture of diesel oil with at least 10 percent coconut oil or 10 percent palm oil, using Toyota diesel engines.
Toyota will provide test engines and technicians while the PTT will supply the fuels and and testing and diagnostic devices. The costs will be shared.
