Lawyers Seek Sanction for San Jose, Calif.-Area School District.

Oct. 2--Lawyers representing children with disabilities asked a federal judge Monday to sanction the Ravenswood City School District for submitting fraudulent petitions to the court in support of the district.

The sanctions could include a fine of an unspecified amount, one of the attorneys said.

They also asked U.S. District Court Judge Thelton Henderson to stop the district from soliciting parents to write letters backing its leadership, a practice they say puts inappropriate pressure on families.

Henderson, who could rule any day whether to order a state takeover of Ravenswood, held the district in contempt this…
