Oct. 1--After reviving Christian Dior's image in fashion apparel, handbags and glasses, John Galliano, designer at the French fashion house is focusing on watches with a worldwide launch of his own design, Chris 47, today.
Chris 47 was intended to make a major fashion statement as had Mr Galliano's other products, said Gilles Mangin, general manager of LVMH Watch & Jewellery for Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
Since Mr Galliano joined Christian Dior four years ago, the brand's sales have doubled and the number of boutiques has risen to 150 from 32.
Pricing is being used as a tool to attract young buyers.
The boutiques sell T-shirts at 6,000 baht. Previously, clothes started at 10,000 baht.
Christian Dior is part of the LVMH Group, one of the world's largest luxury product groups with a total sales of 11 billion euros last year.
