Oct. 8--Toy makers at Fisher-Price knew they had a popular toy on their hands last year, when the Billy Blazes firefighter emerged as the most popular of the company's "Rescue Heroes" series.

The company was in the process of making a special edition of the toy, with the character wearing gear from the Fire Department of New York City.

Then came Sept. 11, when the world saw the real-life heroics of the New York firefighters.

Immediately, the special version of the Billy Blazes toy became a very popular item.

Responding to that rise in popularity, Fisher-Price now plans to make 100,000 of the FDNY Billy Blazes. …
