Oct. 5--The film subsidiary of RS Promotion 1992 Co, the country's second largest record company, has sealed a foreign distribution deal with the copyright sale of 10 Thai films to a Singaporean distributor.

It was the first sale of RS films since RS Film & Distribution Co was established earlier this year. The films, produced over the past several years, were sold to Multimedia Picture Consortium Co for US$20,000.

Its copyright sales in Singapore include screening in cinemas and also broadcast on pay television channels. Under the deal, the distributor will hold the "RS Thai Film Festival" next month to promote films for a week there. Phala Bhutpetch, the company's managing director, said its sales figure was quite low because Singapore is a small market and all its films were produced years back.

However, for a newer film such as Killer Tattoo, a comedy, the firm is in talks with the distributor to sell under an agreement involving sharing revenue from ticket sales. The firm plans to offer 5-10 percent of ...
