Oct. 25--WAL-MART MARKET TO FILL PANTEGO SITE: Rush Creek Centre, a shopping complex that lost its grocery anchor in June when Minyard closed its store at the location, is gaining a prominent replacement and has also leased out its second-largest vacancy.
Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, the retailer's grocery-only concept, will soon take over the 46,000-square-foot store site at the southwest corner of Bowen Road and Pioneer Parkway in Pantego, with plans for a spring store opening.
Neighborhood Market offers a full line of groceries, pharmaceuticals, photo-lab services, a branch bank and a deli, but not other typical Wal-Mart retail items.
Extensive retrofitting at the facility will include the addition of a drive-through pharmacy lane on the west side of the building.
There are about 25 Neighborhood Markets throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, including a pair of stores on Matlock Road, one in southeast Arlington and another in Mansfield.
Neighborhood Market, which has subleased the space from Minyard, will do battle with another new-to-town discount grocer, Yes!Less, which recently opened a store at 2400 W. Pioneer Parkway in Pantego.
