Holly Hunter personified the ambitious working girl in the 1987 hit movie Broadcast News. And now, 17 years later, it's clear there was more than a little of the real Holly in that hard-driving character. The 45-year-old New Yorker has appeared in more than 30 flicks, including Living Out Loud, Home for the Holidays, and The Firm, and she won an Oscar for her remarkable portrayal of a mute pianist in 1993's The Piano. But her most recent gutsy move was playing the mom of an out-of-control adolescent in last year's Thirteen, an eye-opening indie film that she also executive-produced.
