Sofia Coppola comes from a family who have made their mark on the movie industry (her dad is veteran director Francis Ford Coppola and her cousin is actor Nicolas Cage). But despite her famous pedigree, the 32-year-old director has managed to create a film style that's distinctly her own. Sofia garnered serious praise for her 1999 flick, The Virgin Suicides, starring Kirsten Dunst and Josh Hartnett; however, it's last year's brave indie hit Lost in Translation, which she wrote and directed, starring Bill Murray, that has everyone in Tinseltown (and every other town in America) whispering Oscar.
