Was any woman not mesmerized by Alicia's sassy, spoiled-girl-makes-good character, Cher, in Clueless? After all, with that screen persona, Alicia proved it's possible to be utterly adorable and powerful at the same time. That's why it's so nice to have her back in all equally gutsy role. As the charismatic Kate Fox on Friday night's Miss Match, Alicia's playing a part any Cosine reader can identify with: a spunky single chick with a great job who's searching for love (for herself ... and everyone else).
With Alicia, we believe we've made the perfect "match" for Fun Fearless Female of the Year. Here are a few more awe-inspiring facts: Alicia is a megaproducer of film and TV (she's currently at the helm of the kids' program Braceface), she took on the daunting task of starring in The Graduate on Broadway in 2002, and amazingly, she still finds time to act in big-screen roles. (This March, she'll be seen in Scooby-Doo 2.) And while most starlets drive around in flashy cars and wear couture, Alicia, a devout vegan, animal rights activist, and environmentalist, drives an eco-friendly Toyota Prius hybrid and sports only cruelty-free fashions. [Cosmo] As the star of a show, do you feel more pressure to succeed?
[Alicia] If pressure means exhaustion, then yes. I don't know if it's physically possible to keep up this kind of pace. Yesterday I had to be at work by 6 a.m. and I got home at 10 p.m. I don't have time for friends. I haven't waxed in two months. There was a shot of my legs on the show the other day, and they had to make sure that it was far back enough. It's ridiculous [laughs].
[C] How are you like Kate Fox?
[A] I wanted to be a lawyer, so that's a ...
