Aug. 12--ELMORE, Ala. -- An expired waste disposal plan in Elmore County has put a proposed medical waste treatment facility in the town of Elmore on hold.

Alabama Department of Environmental Management officials determined earlier this year that the waste disposal plans of 67 counties, including Elmore County, and 13 cities had expired after 10 years. Letters were sent in February notifying them of the expiration, said Larry Bryant, chief of the solid waste division of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
