Thai-Language Website for Teddy-Bear Lovers Makes Strong Debut.

Nov. 6--Teddy bears have been among the more popular collectibles for children and adults for more than a century, and they can also be a profitable business.
Pairut Leelahakarnjana, an employee of a private company, has combined her love for teddy bears and artistry into a hobby business as webmaster of www.bearandbuddy.shorturl.com.
The business adds value to the cuddly toys by selling bear-making kits and accessories online.
Ms Pairut decided to create the site because there was no Thai-language service for teddy bear enthusiasts, while there were about 500 sites operated by foreign companies that earned money from selling patterns and related items.
However, as users of most other web sites have to prepare their own materials, Ms Pairut decided to provide more convenience by offering everything that bear lovers would need. Bear patterns can be downloaded at no charge.
The business is not new in Thailand as a few companies already sell bear kits, but Ms Pairut said her strength was low prices -- about half of those charged by other companies -- due to low expenses. However the weak point is that she has no showroom. Payment for the online sales is done by bank transfers.
