Nov. 5--While GMM Grammy Plc will dust off three business units that were suspended after recording losses, RS Promotion (1992) is undergoing major restructuring to improve its efficiency.
The three business units to be relaunched by Grammy were retail outlets, edutainment and films, said Grammy's chairman Paiboon Damrongchaitham.
"We don't have a prototype for entertainment businesses so we have to pay a price before we are successful."
From now on, Mr Paiboon will directly oversee Grammy Film with support from a new group of film producers.
In recent years, Grammy had aimed to make three films a year but it could make only five over the past five years, resulting in a loss of between 30 million and 40 million baht.
Next year, Grammy plans to produce five films including romantic comedies, mysteries and dramas.
The drama will be made specifically for export with a foreign company as a co-producer. Grammy has discussed co-operation with several international studios including Columbia Pictures, Disney and a Hong Kong film producer. Mr Paiboon plans to hold talks with an international film investor this month.
