Die-Hard Shoppers Seeking Deals Line Up Before Dawn in Buffalo, N.Y., Area.

Nov. 23--The early birds got something better than worms this morning, the first official day of the holiday shopping season.

At KB Toys, die-hard shoppers snatched Aero aluminium scooters that normally sell for $79.99 for $9.99. People began lining up outside the McKinley Mall in Hamburg as early as 3:30 a.m. to get the discounts.

Sandy Riley of Lackawanna and her sister Patty Rosati got in line at 6 a.m. for the Barbie Beach Bungalow, normally $59.99, but on sale Friday morning for $19.99.

"You have to get here early or everything is gone," said Riley, just before a KB Toys employee announced at 6:30 a.m. that the …
