PHILADELPHIA _ A cruise down South Street on Friday night cost three Eagles rookies a trip to Dallas for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, and will provide a test of coach Andy Reid's rules for player conduct.
The Eagles on Saturday suspended running back Correll Buckhalter and defensive backs Terrence Carroll and Darrel Crutchfield for Sunday's game after Carroll was arrested on marijuana charges. Carroll and Crutchfield have yet to dress for a game this season.
Buckhalter, Carroll and Crutchfield were taken into custody by police Friday night after officers smelled marijuana coming from a sport-utility vehicle they were riding in on South Street.
Police said a small amount of marijuana was discovered in the vehicle. Carroll, 23, was charged with marijuana possession, a misdemeanor, and held overnight, said Cpl. Jim Pauley, a police spokesman. He was released on his own recognizance Saturday morning.
No charges were filed against Buckhalter, 23, or Crutchfield, 22, and both were released by police Friday night.
Reid met with Buckhalter and Crutchfield on Saturday at the team's complex in South Philadelphia.
