Three weeks to the day after voting to eliminate two teams before the 2002 season, major-league baseball owners gather again Tuesday in Chicago for an update on contraction from Commissioner Bud Selig.
Despite a variety of obstacles standing in their way, including a narrow time frame, don't look for owners to wave the white flag just yet.
"We are not meeting with the intent of tabling contraction. That's clear," Bob DuPuy, executive vice president of administration for Major League Baseball, said Monday.
