Beasley makes key blocks but fumbles, dropped passes irk him.

In a way, fullback Fred Beasley is carrying the 49ers running game on his shoulders.

Beasley's lead blocks frequently spring Garrison Hearst and Keven Barlow and have been instrumental in developing the 49ers rushing attack into the second-best in the league.

"We ask him to block linebackers 70 percent of the time," Coach Steve Mariucci said. "So, statistically he doesn't have a lot of carries. But when you run the ball effectively like we do, the fullback and the tight end don't get as much credit as they deserve."
