Dec. 6--NEW BERN, N.C.-- The Craven County economy received a welcome boost Wednesday when Gov. Mike Easley announced an expansion by a German-based appliance maker that will bring more than 1,400 new jobs to the region during the next five years.
BSH Home Appliances, part of the Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances joint venture based in Munich, Germany, plans to invest about $150 million in the project. The company, the third-largest manufacturer of household appliances worldwide, already employs about 400 people at its New Bern operations.
