Dec. 4--Cementhai Distribution Co, the distribution arm of Siam Cement Group, is urging its dealers nationwide to join an e-payment system over the next two years, according to the company's president Dusit Nontanakorn.
Making payments via the e-payment system is part of CDC's continuous efforts to streamline operations aimed at easing the impact of the financial crisis.
"In March 2001 our company started developing e-commerce and e-payment systems. So far, about 20 percent or 100 of our 550 dealers nationwide have already made their payments through Bank of Asia's e-payment system," Mr Dusit said.
CDC planned to urge the remaining dealers to join the e-payment system by 2003 with invitations to other banks to offer similar services to the company and its dealers.
Vilawan Banadurongvan, the executive vice-president of Bank of Asia's e-commerce and e-banking division, said that the combined value of payments made through the e-payment system by CDC's 100 dealers during the past nine months amounted to somewhere between three billion and four billion baht.
"We are confident that next year the combined amounts of payments would be more than ten billion baht," she said.
