While local health officials respond to the discovery of infected mosquitoes at a Henderson park, a laboratory in California has confirmed Clark County's second human case of West Nile virus.
According to the Clark County Health District, the second case, confirmed late Thursday, involves a patient older than 50 who is in stable condition at an area hospital. The person is suffering from symptoms including inflammation of the brain and the membrane surrounding the brain.
Test results are pending for eight more Clark County residents suspected of having the virus, seven of them discovered this week.
