Dec. 27--Wisconsin Power and Light Co. asked the state Public Service Commission on Wednesday to allow a temporary rate increase that would boost rates by 9.4 percent.
If approved, the interim rate change would add $4.61 and $6.91 to the typical residential customers' monthly electric and gas bill, respectively, Alliant said.
Approval of the temporary increase would enable the Madison utility subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corp. to begin collecting a higher rate from customers until state regulators make a final decision on a rate increase request the company made earlier this year.
