Dec. 25--Some manufacturing plants are hot, dirty places and hard on high-tech equipment, but a Chattanooga company is helping firms to protect and use computers on the shop floor.

In the process, Modular Industrial Computers has developed a client list that reads like it's out of Fortune magazine. The Chattanooga company is doing business with giants such as Ford Motor Co., Anheuser-Busch and Kraft Foods.

"American industry continues to invest in the timely acquisition of information in their factories," said Michael Wright, president of Modular Industrial Computers.
