Jan. 17--Michigan is tied for last place nationally in the amount of tobacco-settlement money it spends to keep kids from smoking, according to a report released Tuesday.
That dubious distinction is earning the state criticism from groups normally at odds: advocacy organizations like the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, which released the report, and tobacco companies like Philip Morris U.S.A., which says it wants states to spend their settlement money to deter youth smoking.
