Jan. 14--CORPORATE BEHAVIOR NEEDS SOME REFORM: First, came Congress with its proposals. Now, the White House wants to do something to show sympathy for the workers of Enron Corp. who lost their retirement savings when the company collapsed.
Saying he was "deeply concerned about ... a wave of bankruptcies that have caused many workers to lose their pensions," President Bush ordered the Labor, Commerce and Treasury secretaries to set up a task force to review the nation's pension laws.
Specifically, he's wants "to reform the system to make sure that people are not exposed to losing their life savings as the result of a bankruptcy."
