Jan. 8--The Government Savings Bank should focus on grass-roots community development as its first priority in its efforts to carve out a niche market distinguished from commercial banks, Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said yesterday.
Outstanding credit at the GSB currently stands at around 160 billion baht. Of this, around half represents large-scale loans, including those to state enterprises and infrastructure projects, while 33 billion baht represents housing loans and another 20 billion personal and retail loans.
