Jan. 8--Apple Computer Inc. hopes to breathe new life into its iMac computers by putting the traditional computer monitor to death. At the Macworld trade show in San Francisco yesterday, Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled a redesigned line of iMacs that replace bulky cathode-ray tube monitors with sleek, thin, flat-panel displays.
"I think this is the official death of the CRT today," Jobs said as he put the new iMac through its paces.
