Jan. 2--With 12 million new subscribers projected this year, customers can expect plenty of incentives to buy from the cellular service providers.

The commercial launch of CP Orange in the first quarter will put pressure on the existing major rivals, Advanced Info Service and Total Access Communication which has rebranded itself as DTAC.

AIS claims to have at least four million subscribers in total for post-paid and pre-paid mobile services.

AIS executive vice-president Somsak Premsuk conceded that AIS was waiting to see how CP Orange marketed its services.
