Mar. 5--The Central Group has announced one of the most sweeping restructurings in its 70-year history, aimed chiefly at maintaining "consolidation" among the growing ranks of the Chirathivat family, shedding non-core businesses and meeting new competitive challenges.

The restructuring, now under way, would prevent family feuds that might arise from the growing business wealth of the Central Group, which is owned and run largely by the Chirathivat family.

Under the theme "restructuring for excellence", the new organisation will see one of Thailand's largest conglomerates concentrating on five mainstream businesses: retail, hotel, shopping centre ...
