Mar. 4--Finance Minister Somkid Chatusripitak has urged the Government Savings Bank to boost lending to small businesses.
He said businesses such as retail shophouses or watch-repair stores were too small to obtain funds from commercial banks or even the Small Industry Finance Corporation.
At the same time, the People's Bank, a micro-credit programme run by the GSB, offered loans only up to 30,000 baht, too small to help finance business operations or investment.
