Mar. 1--The economy posted only modest signs of recovery in January, although gains in investment and consumer spending helped solidify prospects for a pickup in growth later in the year, the Bank of Thailand announced yesterday.
Atchana Waiquamdee, central bank chief economist, said private investment indicators were showing improved signs, with year-on-year growth in January following six consecutive months of declines.
Gains in the index were helped by increased investment in construction, helped by government measures to boost the real estate sector.
