Apr. 6--The battle in the low-end beer market has heated up in time for the Songkran holiday celebrations, with Boon Rawd Brewery set to spend 80 million baht on commercials featuring three former world-champion boxers endorsing its newest brand, Thai Beer.
The new brew is pitched directly at Chang beer, produced by Beer Thai (1991), which dominates the mass market.
Chang's commercials featuring Add Carabao, a popular songs-for-life singer, have been very successful, particularly in the provinces, eroding the previous control of the market by Boon Rawd's Singha brand.
