Apr. 5--Thailand and the United States are considering a permanent joint consultation system to study elements of setting up a bilateral free-trade arrangement and solve trade problems, officials of both countries said yesterday.

Commerce Minister Adisai Bodharamik and Robert Zoellick, the US Trade Representative (USTR) yesterday entered a one day meeting, the first formal session of its kind in more than a decade. Mr Zoellick will also meet with all Asean economic ministers in Bangkok today.
