Apr. 5--Siam Commercial Bank yesterday announced that it expected to achieve an annual return on equity of 16 percent within three years.

Khunying Jada Wattanasiritham, the SCB president, said achieving the target would allow the bank to clear accumulated losses and pay dividends to shareholders.

Chairman Vichit Suraphongchai said meeting the profit target represented the main goal of the bank's endeavours to become the main choice for potential customers.

In 2001, SCB reported net profits of 404.6 million baht, down from 3.56 billion the year before. The bank set aside loan provisions of 9.2 billion baht last ...
