Apr. 4--Mobile communications firm M Link Asia performed strongly yesterday in its debut on the local stock exchange, even as telecom shares overall dropped 1.5 percent amid concern about falling profits due to increased competition.
M Link, controlled by a sister of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, closed at 24.60 baht, up 17 percent from its initial public offering price of 21 baht. The stock was the most active on the exchange yesterday, with 710.3 million baht worth of shares changing hands, more than 10 percent of the day's total trading turnover.
