Apr. 4--On occasion, this column deviates from economics and markets and addresses individual ambition and achievement. A couple of months ago, I wrote about a group of students who qualified for a global business case study competition. Last week, those students from Chulalongkorn University's BBA programme placed third in the competition held in New Zealand besting teams from around the world.
I hope readers find today's column no less interesting. It is about Douglas Cairns, a former Bangkok-based fund manager, who intends to fly around the world in 90 days in a light twin-engine aircraft to raise awareness and money for diabetes research.
