Apr. 4--Three major retailers -- Central, Robinson and Siam Centre -- are gearing up to expand their businesses, choosing strategies that suit the tough economic climate.

With no sign of economic recovery in the first quarter, Central Retail Corporation (CRC), part of the Central Group, is likely to rely on its food business to boost cashflow, with plans to reinvest in Tops Supermarket chain in the next two years.

Central Department Store, Siam Centre and Siam Discovery plan to renovate and add outlets, while Robinson Department Store Plc will resume marketing after a five-year slowdown.
