Apr. 3--Oil retailers are being encouraged to battle major oil suppliers on legal grounds after the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court ruled in favour of one their colleagues.

Caltex (Thai) Co, which plans to appeal against the ruling, had sued Star Vertex Co, the operator of a pump station at Don Muang, and Virat Tantisuwanna, the station's owner, for failing to settle debts as contractually required.

Caltex terminated the contract and seized a 500,000-baht deposit paid by the petrol station. As the amount was lower than the debt, Caltex sought a court order for the defendant to vacate and ...
