Newly Merged Thai Bank Eyes 200 Billion Baht Growth in Lending.
Apr. 2--The newly enlarged Siam City Bank expected to increase its outstanding loans by 200 billion baht over the next five years, according to bank president Apisak Tantivorawong.
The merger between SCIB and Bangkok Metropolitan Bank would result in total assets of 490 billion baht, the fifth largest in the banking system. Outstanding loans will total around 134 billion baht, with another 219 billion in assets held in the form of notes issued by the Financial Institutions Development Fund.
The notes were paid as compensation for the transfer of bad loans from both BMB and SCIB over the past year to a state-owned asset-management firm.
