With her golden curls, dimpled smile and twinkling eyes, little Shirley Temple captured the hearts of American moviegoers in the 1930s.
She made such an impact that movie exhibitors voted her the No. 1 moneymaker at the box office for three consecutive years (1935-37).
Americans, mired in the Great Depression, welcomed Temple's simplistic tales of a little girl overcoming great odds to find happiness.
Fox has released three of Temple's movies on DVD, each carrying a suggested retail price of $19.98. Viewers can watch the films in their original black-and-white formats or in colorized versions.
The three films:
_"Bright Eyes" (1934): Despite being only 7, Temple shows remarkable poise and confidence in front of the camera. This is the move in which she sings "On the Good Ship Lollipop."
