By Kavi Chongkittavorn The Nation (Thailand) / Asia News Network Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra must have been completely out of his mind when he rejected the first human rights report by the National Human Rights Commission. If anything, he should be thankful to the commission for its uprightness and straightforward assessment of his administration in protecting the rights of the Thai people. Certainly the report is not perfect or complete, but it must be considered a milestone in Thailand's human rights policy. It was sad that Thaksin used such abusive rhetoric when he accused the commission of "disservice" to the country, saying that its report had undermined the country's international standing. The report, he said, read more like one of the opposition's polemics than a piece of constructive advice. Only a leader with a twisted mind would view this valuable report …
