May 2--As the world aviation and tourism industries make a slow recovery, Northwest Airlines is stepping up to the challenge by upgrading the facilities at all of its five major hubs worldwide.
Only two months after opening the Edward H. McNamara terminal, its US $1.2-billion domestic and international gateway in Detroit, the carrier is moving ahead with a plan to upgrade its Asian hub at the Narita airport in Tokyo.
The move is aimed at winning passengers back and improving the flow on its trans-Pacific routes. The amount of the investment in Narita was not revealed.
