May 7--Developed countries get rid of electrical and electronic waste not only by paying some countries to become disposal sites but also by exporting obsolete and reconditioned second-hand products.
However, while some customers might see this as an opportunity to score a bargain-priced product of a major brand, the Federation of Thai Industries suggests they are mistaken.
Many of the products are junk and all too soon join the country's pile of hazardous waste, damaging the environment, according to Saengchai Ekpatanaparnich, the vice-chairman of the FTI's electrical, electronics and allied industries club.
