May 7--South Korea hopes that by hosting international events it can promote its attractions and business opportunities to the world.

This is the main reason why it has teamed up with Japan to host the month-long World Cup soccer tournament that starts on May 31.

As well, South Korea will host the 14th Asian Games in Busan in September.
