May 4--Promotion of Thailand as a diving centre will be stepped up in order to tap the rich business potential of the sport and to support eco-tourism, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
Diving is expected to figure prominently in the Eco-tourism and Adventure Travel Expo 2002, scheduled for May 30 to June 2 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok.
The TAT and NCC Management and development, the event organiser, expect the expo to draw 50,000 visitors and generate at least 200 million baht for the local diving industry.
