May 26--QUESTION: How and where can I search for a list of accents or umlauts to place over letters? I know I have to use the ALT key with a number. What I am interested in is the list with the various things that I can do and the corresponding numbers. Can you help? Many thanks.

ANSWER: Windows has a utility called Character Map that can help you insert the occasional accent or other diacritical marks. You'll probably find it under Start...Programs...Accessories. When you select a special character, the keyboard shortcut will be displayed at the bottom right. To insert the character, use the Alt key and the numbers on the number pad at the right of your keyboard.
Q: I wonder, if I install a keyboard with the extra Spanish character keys in Windows XP's English version, will it work? And where can I buy a keyboard with Spanish characters?

A: Yes, it will work. You'll just have to tell Windows XP about the new keyboard layout. Go to Start...Control Panel and the Regional and Language Options. Choose Details, Add and choose a Spanish layout (there are several version for different countries).
