Jun. 4--Foreign strategic investors including airlines in the Star Alliance and investment banks could be brought into Thai Airways International (THAI) as part of a new growth plan for the national carrier.
Finding overseas partners would be essential in obtaining the additional funds required this year to support the airline's expansion under new chief executive, Kanok Abhiradee.
In an interview, Mr Kanok did not rule out the option of allowing competing foreign airlines to become a shareholder in THAI, an option that was completely ruled out by his predecessor, Virabongsa Ramangkura, who used to hold the positions of chairman and acting president.
