Jun. 6--New directives allowing small food suppliers to tender will trim the cost of Thai Airways International's catering department by 20 percent from 1.6 billion baht spent on ingredients last year.
The department made the policy change after being spun off from the national carrier as an independent profit centre last year.
The move would promote the use of local raw materials and support small-scale suppliers, said Pismai Chandrubeksa, the department's managing director.
