Jun. 5--Toyota will have to overcome two major hurdles before making a final decision to shift all Japanese production of one-ton pickup trucks to Thailand, according to a source in Toyota Motor Thailand.
However, Toyota president Ryoichi Sasaki insisted that the 27-billion-baht project was still in place and that the company had asked the Board of Investment (BoI) to consider it.
"As the project is part of a global policy, it is in the final stage of being considered by the Japanese parent company, but we cannot say for now when [a decision will be made]," Mr Sasaki said.
