Jun. 5--Thailand and South Korea have potential to strengthen their economic ties but need to make more effort to promote trade and investment and improve their perceptions of each other.

Thais seem to be more aware of Korea than Koreans are of Thailand. However, Thais tend to see Korean products as inferior to those from Japan and Western countries.

Thai officials say South Korea tends toward trade protectionism, with barriers impeding the inflow of foreign-made industrial and farm-related items.
