Trends in domestic terrorism.(In Focus)
Social and political scientists often refer to pendulum swings with regard to long-term shifts in public and political orientations. Sentiments and policies regarding capital punishment, for example, tend to slowly migrate between liberal and conservative orientations every generation or so. Do trends in U.S.-based terrorism follow a similar pattern of gradual flux between various categories of extremist orientations?
