Jul. 1--When corporatised, Thailand's postal service will make a profit only if it is allowed to increase charges for all postal services as it will lose an annual state subsidy of 1.8 billion baht, consultants say.

C&C International Venture says that if the postal service is separated from the Communications Authority of Thailand and placed under a new company, Thailand Post, it will no longer be eligible for a subsidy.

C&C International Venture was hired by the CAT to prepare a blueprint for Thailand Post, assuming the postal service would be separated from its main telecommunications service.
